1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
How does it feel when you are meant to maintain divine decorum, you’re busy minding your business and someone was determined to be obnoxious and push all your trigger buttons?
Common, now! Don’t get “holier than thou” with me! We’ve all been there at one point or the other. We’ve all had an occasion or two when we had an encounter with a she-devil! You know, those deceptive, outwardly looking saint, packaged with invisible vipers! Their fangs come out as a shock especially when you are least prepared for the “manifestation”, the “unveiling of the claws” meowwww!
Trust me, you wouldn’t need to go far to meet “them” than in the gathering of women in any setting! Catty felines with sly moves gracefully would always be amongst the gathering with a plan to get you out of character, get the worst out of you, so as to have juicy news to feed the grapevines on!
That’s why the Bible advises us in 1 Sam 16:7b “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” The fact that you’ve known someone for years in church does not make them a Christian or even a Spirit-filled one, likewise standing in a car garage for a long while does not make you a car! Lol!
I digress a bit with the transgressor. My focus is on the amiable individual who was victimized and had been pushed to the wall. You know, when you start seeing red, but not the blood of Jesus! Lol! At that point, you probably didn’t remember the day you meekly surrendered like a docile lamb and accepted His call on your life. The moment of a pound of flesh when you conveniently forgot the “turn the other cheek” scripture.
Well, there are things to do in such a time as those. We all go through it at one point or the other. It’s imperative that we make a decision to choose our divine DNA. Choose to react in line with your Royalty rather than allow your flesh to dictate. Imagine you are Her Majesty the Queen, what would you do? I’ve never seen the Queen lose her temper, have you? So you have a choice to maintain Your Royal Priesthood rather than allowing the flesh to demean you to Royal P***hood! You are too loaded for ghetto behavior. Don’t reduce yourself to the hood reactions. You can turn it around. How?
First, ask the Holy Spirit to help you take charge of your emotions. You need His help so as not to embarrass Him and disgrace yourself in the process. You should understand that you are the one in control of your emotions and with His help, you will be empowered to rein your feelings in. Your emotions do not have you in its grasp; you have the ability to control it. Temperance is a fruit of the Spirit and it’s embedded in you (Galatians 5:23). Let it have its way.
Secondly, remember who you are. Your identity as a Royal Priest is very important. A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold (Proverbs 22:1). You are a child of God, you bear His Royal name. Once you were in darkness and acted accordingly (ghetto-like, yup, I can relate, I’ve been there!) but now, you are redeemed and have been translated into the kingdom of His dear son (Colossians 1:13). Rascality has no place in His kingdom, queen. You are His ambassador and you should represent Him well (2 Cor 5:20).
Thirdly, choose divine decorum. You can choose to smile, take a graceful step back, take your leave politely, and walk away with your head held high. Maintain your royalty posture. Taking these steps will help you bring honor to Christ in what could have ended up being a volatile situation. Moreover, do you know if you see someone you respect so much pass by, you would conduct with dignity because you want to impress them? How much more God whom you would give an account of yourself to?
Making a decision to represent Christ at all times, is not a mean feat. However, as we yield our weaknesses, inability, struggles, and shortcomings to Him, He equips and empowers us to die to self daily, mortify our flesh and put carnality to death. We all need His anointing that breaks every yoke in our lives and guards us to please Him at all times.
Till next time, queen, choose Royal Priesthood over Royal P***hood! From one Queen to the other, here is a toast to overcoming all fleshy desires! Cheers! Keep on reigning majestically!
You are the Best!
Agape,
Jesus Errand Daughter-Rev Honour Adewole
