I am sure at one point or the other in our lives, we have all been taught to be politically correct with our speech and resort to single letter word that is common to most people rather than use swear words.. I don’t know what went through your mind when you saw the title of this article.

However, if you’ve concluded in your mind that this “Jesus Errand Daughter” is about to write about a swear word, I suggest you kneel down wherever you are right now and beg God forgive your Royal Cheekiness! Lol! I am just playing with words to garner attention for this phenomenal article.

Today the focus is on Flashback. A flashback, or involuntary recurrent memory, is described as a psychological phenomenon in which an individual has a sudden, usually powerful, re-experiencing of a past experience or elements of a past experience. These experiences can be happy, sad, exciting, or of any other emotion one can consider. When you cast your mind back, into the past, and dredge up a memory that had an impact on you, how do you handle it? This is where the pondering emoji comes in handy! Lol! What do you do with a past that forces its presence into your hitherto serene world?

Let me start by reassuring you that there is no future in the past. You can’t undo what has become history. Let it become “hi-story”;since it’s such a major part of you, earn from what you’ve learnt from it and make a fortune! That’s right! You can make your past, your meal ticket to your dream world! You shouldn’t allow the past to enslave you, rather you should examine the chains carefully, reflect and recount it and cut yourself loose. It’s time to be emancipated from the shackles.

Your scars could be turned to stars. You can share your story to educate, motivate, instruct or forewarn others. Someone might be going through what you’ve been through and be keen to know how you survived, got through, overcame or endured whatever it may be. Listen to what my Daddy said, “Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old.” Isaiah 43:18. WoW! That’s amazing! I like the Berean Study Bible translation best because it uses the word “mind”. Our mind is a powerful thing, isn’t it? We could be snared by our minds or set free by liberating ourselves through the Word of God.

My Daddy rightly pointed out the importance of renewing our minds. In Romans 12:2, it says, renew your mind with the Word of God.” In other words, let the Word of God bring you comfort when you are down in the dumps, make a conscious effort to think about what you’re thinking about.

I will show you another strategy to employ. Philippians 4:8 puts it this way, ” Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” There you go!

You have plenty of alternatives that are wholesome and geared towards making you joyful and pleased. When the devil tries to plays yo-yo with your mind and takes you down memory lane with tragic event, unpleasant issue, a traumatic episode or whatever it may be that makes your heart heavy, opt for God’s remedy instead. Choose joy. Recycle your joy Phillipians 4:4 and you will always have the best laugh! God bless you and make His face shine upon you always!
